From it’s inception, career development has had as a major aspect the idea of matching. How do we take the unique characteristics of an individual and pair them to occupations and positions that will best make use of those characteristics. We use career assessments such as the Self-Directed Search to help individuals organize their interests, dump that information into an algorithm that in turn generates options, hopefully based on solid research, that have been shown to be characterized by similar traits.
Hot off the presses, JP Morgan released a report called “Swiping Right for the Job,” a 50 page report that examines:
- the positives and negatives of current labor matching technology
- how people interact with these tools
- innovations and challenges with this type of technology, and
- the roles institutions can play.
Definitely worth a read!
